Atlantic Airgun Club - just about airgunning!
Welcome to the Atlantic Airgun Club website.
Atlantic Airgun Club (AAC) is a fairly young club, which was formed in 2007. The Cape Town based club is responsible for hosting shooting events in two primary air rifle shooting disciplines, namely Field Target Shooting (FT) and Hunter Field Target Shooting (HFT).
The primary aim of the club is to provide a fun, safe environment where all air rifle enthusiasts are welcome to join and participate irrespective of age, shooting experience, ability and equipment owned.
Official club shoots are held on a monthly basis at various shooting ranges throughout the province. This affords shooters the opportunity to compete on a virtually “new course of targets” for every shoot at a different location, making it more interesting and, in some cases, more challenging depending on the venue.
Practice sessions are held at least twice a month at the Wetton Shooting Range. These sessions usually cater for all shooters from the more serious who need to prepare for the next provincial shoot, to those who just want to spend some time on a Saturday morning plinking in a safe, controlled environment. Newcomers are also encouraged to attend these sessions, where there are always people available to assist with rifle and scope setup etc.
The club is affiliated to the Western Province Field Target Association (WPFTA) and is also recognised as a member club of the South African Field Target Airgun Association (SAFTAA). On a regular basis the club hosts provincial shoots, which are governed by WPFTA and SAFTAA. This provides the platform for the more competitive shooters to compete at a provincial and national level.
We hope this web site will enlighten you about the sport of Airgunning, keep you up to date with the happenings within the club and provide links to some useful documents, informative web sites and useful software - all of course to do with Air rifles!
